You may have experienced the phenomenon where, when you search for Coupang in the search bar or access the Coupang site, products you’ve searched for on other sites show up and follow you online.

‘Cookies’ are a useful feature that allows shopping sites or DB collection advertisements to be effectively executed based on customers' internet usage history.

Earlier, Google targeted to block cookies starting in July 2024 and from January 2024, began testing to stop third-party cookie tracking for 1% of Chrome users.

(iOS, Safari, and Firefox already block third-party cookies by default.)

In light of Google's actions, Anthony Catcher, CEO of industry association IAB Tech Lab, predicted that starting in the third quarter of 2024, the market may shift away from existing performance marketing, and urged that the industry should be given enough time to prepare new technologies before the cookies phase-out.

Otherwise, companies that stick to existing methods are anticipated to see significant declines in marketing performance.

In response, Google announced it will postpone the halting date in early 2025 based on "various feedback from the industry and developers," giving domestic and international media and advertising sectors time to secure measures against cookie discontinuation.

Pango has been preparing for cookie-less marketing since 2023, improving advertisers' performance through tracking users on iOS who are already blocked.
